Move paves way for Nitto’s drug delivery technologies expansion worldwide.
As part of a continuing cash-raising strategy, Elan Corporation is divesting its transdermal patch business, Elan Transdermal Technologies, Inc (ETT), to Nitto Americas, the US subsidiary of Japan’s Nitto Denko Corporation.
ETT, based in the US, is an integrated transdermal research, development and manufacturing company that offers its partners a range of proprietary and generic controlled-release patch products for therapeutics, pharmaceutical services from discovery and development to scale-up and commercial manufacturing.
Nitto Denko a key player in transdermal drug delivery systems, featuring a proprietary drug delivery system and multiple patent-protected technologies, has particular expertise in adhesive formulation and patch development.
The ETT acquisition will further enhance Nitto’s position by fusing its own transdermal drug delivery platforms with ETT’s US-based manufacturing presence, regulatory expertise, patent portfolio and broad technology platforms.
