

Galenica acquires Potter’s. Move to gain entry into UK’s OTC marketplace
Consolidation activity in the life science industry spills over into the nutraceuticals sector. Potter’s (Herbal Supplies) Ltd., one of the UK’s oldest pharma companies with a history dating from the early nineteenth century, has been taken over by the Galenica Group, based in Berne, Switzerland.
Galenica took over the entire share capital of Potter’s, a family-owned, British OTC firm with its headquarters in Wigan, England. Terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed.
The acquisition secures a foothold for Galenica within Europe’s OTC market. Galenica sees the move as a vital step in its efforts to ’Internationalise’ the company’s OTC business in a sector where trade in prescription-free remedies, represents an attractive platform for rapid growth in Europe.
