Eisai Co., Ltd. has selected Hatfield, UK, as the location to establish its first European pharmaceutical manufacturing operation.
The subsidiary, Eisai Manufacturing Ltd., (EML), owned by Esai's European regional headquarters, Eisai Europe Ltd., will be the base for the company's quality assurance and supply chain management operations.
The announcement follows on from the expansion of Esai's pharmaceutical operations with the construction of the company's European Knowledge Centre in Hatfield, North of London.
EML will begin recruiting manufacturing and QA experts in the run up to its launch planned in 2008.
This manufacturing subsidiary is seen to form a key part of Eisai's strategy to advance Esai's knowledge creation in manufacturing and it will consolidate other parts of Eisai's European operations in clinical research, production and marketing.
