Perrigo Company, based in Allegan, Michigan, USA, has sold its vitamins, minerals and supplements (VMS) business unit (Perrigo UK Ltd of Swadlincote) to NeutraHealth plc of Birmingham, UK.
In a reverse deal NeutraHealth has sold its OTC medicines business to Perrigo via a new company, Brunel Pharma Ltd., which represents the OTC unit of Brunel Healthcare.
The combined NeutraHealth-Perrigo UK VMS business is to be rebranded as Brunel Healthcare Manufacturing Ltd.
With Perrigo's acquisition of Galpharm Healthcare in January 2008, Perrigo will be operating three regional companies in the UK, Wrafton Laboratories of Braunton, Devon, Galpharma International in Barnsley, South Yorkshire and Brunel Pharma based at Braunton, Devon.
For a certain period of time, Perrigo will continue to supply OTC medicines under the Brunel brand.
The latest acquistion enables Perrigo to strengthen its commitment to Private Label OTCs, following the acquisition of Galpharm, while passing on its VMS business to NeutraHealth, which is well placed to build upon the customer-focused business relationship that Perrigo had developed.
