Soaring sales for Pharm Dev Co in Swiss 'golden triangle'

Solvias AG, based in Basel, Switzerland reports 20% increase in revenues from specialist pharma development services and more jobs.

Increasing the flow of revenues in year 2002 to SFr43.6 million ($33.50 €28.50) Solvias reports about 50% increase from overseas sales, up from 22 to 32 per cent of the total. The figures are revealed in the company’s Annual Report, showing that its sales had successfully weathered "difficult market conditions."

In order to keep pace with the growth of its business, Solvias has increased its staffing with 24 more employees bringing the strength to 224 full-time employees.

Among services offered for primary API synthesis and analytical for raw materials and solvents in the core pharma sector, Solvias introduced microbiology as a new service. Further ahead, the demand for protein analysis is seen as an area with growth potential.

As a further step towards expanding its operations, in early 2003 the company started up operations at its new US subsidiary, Solvias Inc., based in Fort Lee, New Jersey, USA.

The company gives special mention to synthesis services and enantioselective ligands, allowing easy access to tailor-made handiing of Solvias IP. This is especially useful for larger pharma companies to manufacture complex APIs without entering into "production obligations or undesriable licensing structures."
