Applied Biosystems, together with its partner MDS SCIEX, has released the latest system in its quadruple time-of-flight mass spectrometry series, the QSTAR® XL LC/MS/MS System. The new system is designed for drug metabolism and protein characterisation.
The QSTAR XL System offers significant improvements for proteomics and drug discovery researchers alike, and is especially useful for identifying and characterising low level drug and metabolite concentrations in biological samples.
The new system is more sensitive gives higher resolution with more accurate mass data. It is uniquely quite flexible, allowing researchers to switch easily between API and oMALDI™ Source techniques. The new oMALDI 2 ion source determines molecular weights from a wide variety of matrices without fragmentation and greater sensitivity means that the QSTAR XL System is as useful for analysing larger intact proteins as it is for analysing low abundance proteins in complex samples.
Altogether, enhanced ion optics, a new detector and a novel scan function similar to that in the QTRAP System, all contribute to an easy-to-use, rapid and reliable system for protein characterisation and drug metabolism studies.
QSTAR is a registered trademark and oMALDI is a trademark of Applera Corporation or its subsidiaries in the US and certain other countries.
