ABC of teaming up with English-speaking life science professionals

A chance encounter at the Crossroads of the 7th Annual European Biotechnology event, Biotech Nantes 2003, in September 25-26 could signal the start of a new way to get together with English-speaking individuals living or working in France in the pharma, biotech and related healthcare industries.

The idea is an informal club, known as the Anglophone Biopharma Club, a not-for-profit gathering with a primary focus on business and enterprise, followed by science and technology.

David Fraser of Biotech Communication SARL, based in Damery, envisages a modest annual membership fee with quarterly meetings, to be held in a Paris restaurant (initially), winding up with dinner and wine to be paid by each member attending on the day.

Interested life science industrialists will be invited to the first dinner/meeting in the New Year, 2004.

David Fraser told Advances in Life Science he "had a reply from someone who works in Brussels and lives in Paris.  And with the TGV, it’s easier to get to Paris from Brussels and Lausanne etc than from Toulouse and Montpellier.."

Come to think of it, with the recent opening of a much faster Eurostar rail link through the Kent countryside and cheap tickets for weekend travel, a meeting near the Gare du Nord in Paris could be a tempting prospect to kick off an occasional, get-away-from-it-all break from the hardships of London life....
